A BIT ABOUT LOUISE AND KERRY

Hi, my name is Louise and I’ve been a student of yoga since 2012 when a friend introduced me to an inspiring Taster workshop at the International Dru Centre in Snowdonia. I found a local teacher and immediately fell in love with this style of yoga. Over recent years it's helped me resolve long standing back and shoulder issues but more importantly has provided tremendous emotional support during some challenging times in my life. As someone who loves to share life enhancing experiences, be that a great book, an inspiring podcast or in this instance an enriching workout for the mind, body and soul, it wasn’t long before I was signed up for the 200 hour Dru Yoga Teacher Training Diploma and in 2018 began teaching my first students. My aim in sharing yoga is to provide a safe, tranquil space for my students to switch off from the busyness of their everyday lives using this gentle, flowing but also dynamic practice to bring strength, flexibility, balance and a sense of peace to their whole being.
So what is Dru Yoga?
It’s a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on flowing movements, directed breathing and visualisation. The Sanskrit word 'Dru' meaning ‘North Star’, also translates as 'still point', that calm, quiet space which can free us from the stresses and strains of modern life. For me, a Dru yoga class is like a moving meditation, taking me out of my busy mind and into my body.
With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, Dru works on body, mind and spirit to rejuvenate your whole being. Physically it improves general strength and flexibility; it also develops core stability, protecting and promoting a healthy spine. Dru classes are relaxing and movements are practised with awareness, co-ordinating body and breath. Emotionally this builds a heightened feeling of positivity, rejuvenation and well-being.
A Dru Yoga class will typically include: activations, movement sequences for core strength and flexibility, postures, pranayama (breath techniques) and the sessions always end with a beautiful deep relaxation.
Dru Yoga is inclusive, designed to be practised by people of all abilities, all fitness levels and all age groups with a strong emphasis on the importance of listening to your own body on any given day, on stretching but never straining.
It will be my absolute pleasure to introduce you to Dru Yoga.
